Listings and advertising policy

Listings are opportunities posted on EduPress: jobs, school places, programmes, offers and business listings. Adverts are paid promotions of listings. This policy explains the rules for both.

Review

  • Business listings are reviewed. A business's listing is reviewed by EduPress before it goes live, and so is every later change.
  • School listings are not. A school's listings go live as soon as the school publishes them.
  • EduPress can step in. It can reject, remove or let a listing expire if it breaks this policy or the Terms of Service.

Every listing must be accurate, lawful, authorised and not misleading.

Dates and age

  • Dates. A listing is shown only between its start and end dates. Applications close at the deadline.
  • Minimum age. Nobody under 16 can apply for any job. A listing can have a minimum age between 13 and 99 (at least 16 on a business's job). Visitors who are not signed in see only listings open to all ages.
  • Promotions. Signed-in members under 18 never see adverts or promotions.

Applying

  • Applying while signed in. To apply for a job, or for any listing while signed in, a person must:
    • use a student, parent or school staff account (not a visitor account)
    • be at least 16
    • have verified their identity
  • Other listings. For listings that are not jobs, some forms can be filled in without signing in.
  • Under 18. Applicants under 18 need a linked guardian, who is told about the application.
  • One application each. A person can apply to each listing once.
  • Contact details. They are released to the person who posted the listing at the interview stage. For anyone under 18, the guardian must also agree.

Reviews of listings

Signed-in members can rate a listing from 1 to 5 and write up to 2,000 characters. Each person can review a listing once. The reviewer's display name is shown with the review.

Adverts

  • Who can advertise. Approved business pages can promote their own published listings, and EduPress runs its own adverts.
  • Review. Every campaign is reviewed by EduPress before it runs.
  • Who sees adverts. Sponsored adverts in the feed are shown only to signed-in adults. Signed-in members under 18 never see adverts or promotions anywhere.
  • No personal targeting. Adverts are matched to where they appear, never to a person's behaviour.
  • Cost. The standard price is UGX 50 for each person who sees the advert, counted once a day. A campaign stops when its budget runs out.
