Our promises to children and families
These are the rules EduPress keeps. Promises without a badge are enforced today. Those marked Coming soon are being built now.
Who can see children
- Children never show up in people search or in member lists that others can see.
- A child’s location never shows on their profile.
- A parent is linked to a pupil only once the school approves it.
- A child’s CV never shows their phone or email. The school is the contact.
- Schools choose who sees their page: everyone, members, or only their own school. Coming soon
- A pupil’s profile is seen only by their own school. Coming soon
- Juniors (P1–P7) and Seniors (S1–S6) get different settings that suit their age. Coming soon
- A teacher approves pupil posts before anyone else sees them. Coming soon
- Employers can check a CV’s school-verified entries with a code, without seeing the child’s profile. Coming soon
- The printed magazine shows only pupils who’ve consented, by first name and class only. Coming soon
Who can contact children
- Adults can’t connect with children or message them privately.
- Children can’t send or receive attachments in messages.
- Jobs and business contact for children go through their guardian.
- Phone numbers and social handles in pupil messages are held for review. Coming soon
What we never do
- Children never see ads or promoted posts.
- Pupils don’t see public like or follower counts, and their feeds come to an end. Coming soon
- Pupils get no notifications at night or in lessons. Coming soon
Help, reporting and parents
- Anyone can block and report any post, comment, message or profile.
- Every school has a safeguarding lead who answers reports within a deadline. Coming soon
- A “Get help” button reaches Sauti 116 and a trusted adult, and parents never see that it was used. Coming soon
- Parents choose, for each child, what’s shared: school, public page, print or photos. Coming soon
- Parents get a weekly summary of their child’s school life. Coming soon

How to report a concern
In EduPress
Use the report button on any post, comment, message or profile. You can also block anyone.
Sauti 116
Uganda’s national child helpline. Call 116: free, 24 hours, in English and local languages.
The police
If a child is being abused, report it to the police. Under the Children Act, anyone who sees a child being abused must report it.
Your data
For a complaint about how data is used, contact us at admin@edupress.ugacares.org or the Personal Data Protection Office.
The law we follow
Uganda’s Data Protection and Privacy Act 2019 treats everyone under 18 as a child, and using a child’s data needs a parent’s or guardian’s consent. The Children Act puts a child’s welfare first. We also use the UK Age Appropriate Design Code as our benchmark for designing for children.
