Community guidelines
What is not allowed on EduPress, how to report it, and what happens next.
Community guidelines
EduPress is a place for schools and the people around them. Many people here are young. These guidelines apply to everything you post, comment, send or list.
What is not allowed
Do not:
- post anything unlawful, harmful, abusive, misleading, defamatory, discriminatory, exploitative or infringing
- harass, bully, threaten or impersonate anyone
- post a student's personal information publicly without the school's permission and any consent that is needed
- send spam, run scams or advertise without permission
- use EduPress to cheat
- try to get into someone else's account, get around permissions, or collect people's data without permission
- upload malware or anything meant to harm people or systems
These rules come from the Terms of Service.
Controls you have
- Block. Blocking someone stops their messages and removes them from your lists. You can block people once you belong to a school.
- Hide or mute. Hide a single post, or mute an author so you stop seeing their posts.
- Choose who can comment. On posts you write for a school's or a business's page, choose who can comment: anyone, only your connections, or no one.
Reporting
Use Report on a post, comment, school, person or message. Choose the reason that fits best:
- unsafe
- abuse
- misinformation
- privacy
- spam
- other
Reporting a person also offers impersonation and fake account. Reporting a message offers harassment, spam, inappropriate content or other.
What happens after a report
- Posts and comments. When a post has 3 open reports, it goes back to draft while it waits for review. A comment on a school's post is hidden at 3 open reports. Other reported comments wait for a person.
- People and schools. Reports about a person or a school are flagged for a person at EduPress to look at. Nothing happens to the account automatically.
- Messages. Reports about messages go to the team members of the school the people involved belong to who manage its users. They see the messages around the time of the report. They can ask to see the full conversation, and every such request is recorded. Edited or deleted messages are kept for this review.
- Young people. When someone under 18 reports a person or a message, their guardian is told.
How EduPress checks content
- Before publishing. When EduPress turns on review, school posts, events, exam results and community posts wait to be checked before they are published. The automated check reads only what school staff publish: their posts, their events, their exam results, and the posts they make in a community. It can publish a school post, an event or a staff post in a community by itself when it is very sure the item is fine, and it can send any of these back to draft. It never approves exam results: a person always publishes those. A post a member writes in a community never reaches the automated check. When review is on for that community, or EduPress has turned it on for community posts, the post waits for a person. The guide for schools has the details.
- Personal posts. Personal posts are published straight away, unless EduPress has turned on approval for them.
- Who can step in. You can remove your own comments. EduPress, and the admins of the school or business page a post belongs to, can remove comments on it. EduPress can suspend an account that breaks these guidelines. A suspended account cannot use EduPress.
Messages to schools
Schools answer as the school, and every reply is recorded. A guardian sees every reply a school sends to someone under 18.
Getting help
