Your school’s own page, run by your own staff
Post news, exam results and events, answer parents’ questions in one inbox, and keep in touch with former pupils. You decide who on your staff can do what.
What you get
A page for everything you publish
- Articles, photo galleries, videos and documents up to 20 MB, organised into sections
- Exam results in PLE, UCE, UACE, IGCSE, A-Level and other formats
- Events, newsletters and quizzes
- Live video through YouTube
- Your map pin with directions, which you can hide
Tools for the people who run it
- Team roles, so a teacher can post without touching your settings
- An inbox where parents and pupils write to the school, and the school replies
- An alumni list that builds itself from adult former pupils you’ve approved
- Communities for clubs and classes, with fundraisers paid by MTN or Airtel
What you can tell parents
These rules apply to every pupil under 18, and your staff can’t switch them off.
- A parent is linked to a pupil only after your school approves it.
- Pupils don’t appear in people search, and adults can’t connect with them or message them.
- Pupils never see adverts or promoted posts.
- A pupil under 18 can write to your school only while a guardian allows it, and the guardian gets a copy of every reply.
- Anyone can block or report a post, comment, message or profile.
Why not just Facebook?
Many schools post on Facebook, WhatsApp or TikTok, and print a magazine once a year. This is how they compare.
| Facebook, WhatsApp, TikTok | Printed magazine | EduPress | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Can every pupil take part? | No. Their own terms say users must be at least 13, so P1–P7 pupils aren’t allowed to follow their own school there. | Only as readers, once a year. | Pupils of 13 and over join through the school. A parent holds a younger child’s account. |
| Who can find the children? | Anyone. Posts get reshared and screenshotted, and strangers comment. | Anyone who picks up a copy, for ever. | Nobody outside: pupils don’t appear in search or in member lists. |
| Ads | School news sits beside ads. | None. | Pupils never see one. |
| Who decides reach? | The algorithm. Followers can miss posts. | The print run. | The school. Followers are told when you post. |
| Child safety | Facebook, Messenger and WhatsApp were the most common platforms for online child sexual exploitation and abuse of children in Uganda (Disrupting Harm, 2021). | Not applicable. | Adults can’t message children, and children can’t send or receive attachments. |
| Results, events and parents | Scattered across groups. | Once a year. | On one page, with an inbox for parents’ questions. |
| What a student keeps | A feed nobody scrolls back through. | A keepsake. | From Senior 4, a CV built from their profile. |
A warning from the region. In Kenya, the data protection commissioner ordered the Mukumu Girls board to pay KSh300,000 in compensation for giving a pupil’s photo to the media without parental consent. Uganda’s Data Protection and Privacy Act 2019 has the same rule: using a child’s data needs a parent’s consent first.

Questions schools ask
What does it cost?
Free costs nothing. Starter is UGX 40,000 a month, Professional UGX 75,000 and Institution UGX 200,000. Paying for a year costs 20% less, and you can pay by mobile money.
Can we change our school’s name?
Ask us. You edit your logo, cover, description and links yourself, but the name, web address and sign-in email change only through a request to EduPress.
What if we want to leave?
Write to us. We archive the page: it comes down, your plan is cancelled and, unless you ask otherwise, the accounts linked to the school are suspended.
