Guide for members without a school
What you can do on EduPress before you join a school, and how to join one.
Guide for members without a school
You can have an EduPress account before you belong to a school. This guide explains what you can do with it.
Joining
- On the web. Join now creates this kind of account. You give your email address, a password of at least 12 characters, your name and your date of birth. You must be at least 13. You can also continue with Google, and then you don't set a password.
- In the app. Choose Visitor.
You can confirm your email address straight away with a 6-digit code, or do it later. In the app you can confirm your phone number by text message instead.
What you can do once confirmed
After you confirm your email address or phone number, you can:
- react to posts and hide posts you don't want to see
- comment, repost and write your own posts
- connect with people and follow schools and pages
- report posts, comments and schools
If you are an adult, you can also create a business page (see the guide for businesses) and ask to join a school's team as staff.
You can message schools and businesses without belonging to a school. If you are under 18, a guardian must allow each one first.
What needs a school
These features need you to belong to a school:
- sending messages to people (you can still message schools and businesses)
- blocking people, and reporting a person
- joining communities and taking part in their events and fundraisers
- applying for listings, saving listings and setting job alerts
Joining a school
Once you have confirmed your account, you can choose your school at any time. Your account becomes a student account straight away, and the school then reviews your request. In the app you can choose to join as a parent instead. You can belong to one school at a time.
