Guide for school team members
A school's team is the group of people who run its EduPress page. Being on the team is what gives access to the school's console. An invitation or a request on its own gives no access.
Roles on a team
| Role | What it can do |
|---|---|
| Owner | Everything, including adding and removing owners and admins. |
| Admin | Whatever their assigned roles allow. |
| Staff | Whatever their assigned roles allow. |
| Member | Listed on the team. Cannot open the school console. |
An admin or staff member with no role assigned cannot do anything in the console.
Roles are built from these permission groups:
- posts
- pages
- sections
- events
- results
- users
- settings
- roles
- community
- menus
- sliders
- messages (reading the school inbox, and replying as the school)
A position label, such as dean or lecturer at a university, describes your job. Your role and permissions decide what you can do.
Joining a team
- By invitation. The school invites you. You see the invitation in your notifications and accept or decline it there; accepting needs a confirmed email address. An invitation expires after 30 days. A school can send up to 50 invitations a day to people who have no EduPress account yet.
- By request. Use Request to join as staff on the school's page. You need a confirmed email address and an adult account.
- Team size. Each plan allows a number of team members: Free 2, Starter 3, Professional 10, Institution 25.
Nothing is granted until the invitation is accepted or the request is approved.
Rules every team keeps
- Owners and admins are protected. Only an owner (or someone given full access), or the school signed in as itself, can grant, change or remove an owner or admin. Adding or removing staff and members needs the "users" permission.
- There is always an owner. A school must keep at least one owner. EduPress will not remove the last one.
- Adults only. Team members must have adult accounts. Nobody under 18 can join a school's team.
- Your own account. If you are the last owner of a school, you cannot delete your own EduPress account until you hand over ownership.
Working for more than one school
If you are on more than one school's team, choose which school you are working for before you make changes. EduPress refuses changes to a school whose team you are not on.
The school inbox and alumni list
- Inbox. Team members with the messages permissions read and answer members who write to the school. Replies go out signed as the school. See the guide for schools.
- Alumni list. Team members with the users permission can remove a wrong entry from the school's alumni list and restore it. Both are recorded.
Being listed on the school's page
You are listed on the school's public page only if you choose to be. Nobody is listed by default. You can also leave a team yourself.
Reported messages
If a message involving someone at your school is reported, team members with the users permission can review it. They see the 15 messages up to the time of the report and the 5 after. They can ask to see the full conversation, and every such request is recorded.
